The Togo international got off the mark as Yellow Black Army claimed a comfortable victory at Van der Valk Stadion De Koel

Peniel Mlapa scored his first goal of the season in VVV Venlo’s 2-0 win over ADO Den Haag in Sunday’s Dutch Eredivisie game.

The 27-year-old who joined the Yellow Black Army on loan in the summer from Dynamo Dresden found the back of the net to help his side return to winning ways after defeats to Excelsior and PSV.

Making his sixth appearance across all competitions, the 27-year-old attacker opened the scoring two minutes into the encounter from the penalty spot.

With five minutes left to play, Jay-Roy Jornell Grot sealed the win shortly after replacing the Togolese, off Moreno Rutten’s assist.

With the result, Venlo are now fifth in the league standings with 14 points from nine games after four wins, two draws and three losses.

Mlapa will hope to continue the impressive goalscoring form when they travel to De Oude Meerdijk to take on Emmen on October 26.
