Asante Kotoko assistant coach Akakpo Patron has expressed disappointment in his strikers' inability to convert their numerous chances against Storm Academy in the FA Cup round of 64 at Baba Yara Sports in Kumasi on Sunday.
Despite parading eight first team players in the squad against the lower-tier side, Kotoko failed to hit the back of the net in regulation time and rather won 6-5 on penalties.
"Kotoko did very well despite starting the game on a slow attitude. What I would rather complain about is that we continue to waste goal opportunities," Patron said.
"The strikers had several good chances to put us ahead but surprisingly wasted them and that brought pressure on us. We had to rely on luck at a point to qualify since penalty shootouts can be won by any of the two clubs involved.
"However, we take solace in the fact that we created enough chances. This means that the midfielders are really improving and it will help us in the premier league," he added.
Kotoko will now switch attention to the premier league as they travel to Accra to lock horns with Liberty Professionals in matchday 14.
