Orlando Pirates reportedly enter the race to re-sign Teko Modise from Sundowns

According to reports, Modise could make an unprecedented return to his former club when his contract with Sundowns expires on June 30, 2017

Teko Modise’s contract with Mamelodi Sundowns is set to run out at the end of the month, and with both parties still locked in negotiations, the veteran could make a shock return to Orlando Pirates.

Modise was earlier this year quoted as saying he won't renew his contract with the Tshwane giants, after seeing little game time in the last two seasons under Pitso Mosimane.

“I will retire from football in two seasons to focus on my business. Football has taken so much of my time, but I hope I won’t be lost in the game because I want to plough back to the community through the sport,” Modise was quoted as saying by SunSport at the time.

Recent media reports suggest that the Buccaneers are looking for an experienced campaigner to bolster their squad and have earmarked Modise as a potential candidate if they fail to land former Everton and Sunderland midfielder Steven Pienaar.

“He might be going back,” a source told Phakaaathi.

“But his move there may depend on whether Pirates manage to get Steven Pienaar as they need an experienced campaigner to lead the team next season. Teko is willing to go back because he never won anything with them and would like to change that,” the source concluded.
