Wayne Rooney's penalty against Liverpool was widely celebrated - and not just in the blue half of Merseyside.
The former Manchester United captain made no mistake from the spot after Dejan Lovren had been pulled up for a shove on Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Liverpool were incensed by the call, which helped Everton earn a point in Sunday's derby at Anfield.
With goals this season against Manchester City and now the Reds, moreover, Rooney continues to do damage against United's biggest rivals.
Once a Red, always a Red, was the cry from Twitter, while supporters of Jurgen Klopp's beleaguered troops were less than amused - some with the decision, and others with Lovren's less than exemplary defending!

Doesn't matter the jersey he wears
Watching Sam Allardyce manage an ineffective, out of position Wayne Rooney in the snow. But for a hidden camera and a pint of wine, this could have been our World Cup highlight.— Jonny Sharples (@JonnyGabriel) 10 de diciembre de 2017
He was going nowhere. Why even put hands on him?— Sam McGuire (@SamMcGuire90) 10 de diciembre de 2017
It’s a soft penalty but it’s equally clever by Calvert-Lewin to lean in to Lovren and stupid of Lovren to allow the contact.— David Preece (@davidpreece12) 10 de diciembre de 2017

Wow. There are people who don’t think it (Lovren) was a penalty. Hands on his back, pushed. DCL clever, positioned for it, Lovren fell for it. Correct decision.— Sam Tighe (@stighefootball) 10 de diciembre de 2017
Get back in the dressing Lovren 100% pen.— Jamie Carragher (@Carra23) 10 de diciembre de 2017
Cowardly performance from Everton, undeservedly rewarded thanks to a terrible penalty award. Don't understand commentary criticism of Lovren's "moment of madness" - I certainly didn't see a push, and touching fouling.— Simon Burnton (@Simon_Burnton) 10 de diciembre de 2017
