Following their away draw against the Savannah Scorpions, the Ikon Allah boy insists his side was truly rewarded for their resilience

Niger Tornadoes defender Reuben Ogbonnanya believes his side truly deserves the point secured from their 0-0 draw against Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium on Wednesday.

On the back of silencing the leaders Platea United 1-0, the Ikon Allah Boys stepped up their pursuit to finish in the top 10 places sharing the spoils with Manu Garba's men.

And the former Kano Pillars' man has attributed his side's good showing against the Savannah Scorpions to the resolve to end their campaign among the leading five teams.

"It was a really tough match for us. Our hard work and resilience were rewarded," Ogbonnanya told Goal.

"Gombe gave us a very tough fight. We played very well despite facing numerous antics of the home team but we held on firmly and truly deserved the point we got in the end.

"The win against Plateau United really pushed us because a lot of people were beginning to write us off as many believe we were going to lose it, but the reverse was the case.

So, the winning mentality pushed us to do better and prove that it was no fluke. We did it and very happy it was our day.

"It was very important for us because we aim to finish very well this season. At least see ourselves among the top five teams at the end," he concluded.
