Garba Lawal has backed Nigeria's 30-man provisional squad for the 2018 World Cup.
The three-time African champions revealed their preliminary team for the showpiece in Russia on Monday as they prepare for their sixth appearance at the World Cup.
Nigeria Professional Football League hotshot Junior Lokosa alongside Crotone talisman Simeon Nwankwo earned their maiden call-ups to complete the Rohr's selection.
"There's no surprise. They're all capable. The coach has made the decision that's best for the country," Lawal told Goal.
"They need to be at their best because the World Cup is a very big stage for players to show their talents."
However, seven players will be dropped from the provisional selection for the final 23-man list and the former Levski Sofia midfielder has cited luck as a requirement to make the final cut.
"Everybody cannot be selected, you must have luck to go to the World Cup, and you must have luck to excel because there are some that will go to the tournament and won't play."
On Lokosa who has scored 18 goals in 20 league appearances this campaign, Lawal added: "There is no surprise, his performance earned him the invitation so he needs to prove to the coach that he is worth it because there's competition for places."
And the 43-year-old who played in the 1998 and 2002 World Cup finals has dropped an advice for the Super Eagles.
"They need to believe in themselves to succeed at the World Cup and then, they need to work hard," he concluded.
