New signing Samuel Agba reveals that Niger Tornadoes' ambition of challenging for the Nigerian topflight title was a reason he left Gombe United.

The Lokoja outfit maintained their impressive start to the 2017/18 season and head into the second half of the season placed fourth on the log with 30 points, four adrift of the summit.

Agba who said he made an ‘overnight’ decision to sign a one-year deal with Ikon Allah Boys admits that he parted ways with his former side because Abubakar Bala’s men have shown aspiration to lift the league’s diadem.

“Joining Niger Tornadoes - who are challenging for the topflight title - ahead of the second stanza I believe was a very good move for me,” Agba told Goal.

“Seriously I just made my decision overnight as I’m even surprised I’m with Niger Tornadoes because my intention was to help the team and help the government of Gombe United [avoid the drop].

“But just all of a sudden I just changed my mind to Niger Tornadoes.”

On forcing his way into coach Bala’s plan ahead of other strikers at his disposal, he said: “My plan is to come and help them in the striking position because I know [the strikers] can’t do all by themselves and by the help of God we are going to achieve our aim. I’m just here to help. That’s all!'' he continued.

“In the course of the second 19 games [to finish the league], I hope to have the zeal and strength and also God’s favour to do more better more than I’ve done at Gombe.

“Everything is moving on fine, the training sessions and other things. We are preparing for the state's FA Cup and the league is restarting on May 21.''
