Newcastle United weighing up move for Ghana's Adomah

The Premier League side are pondering over the possibility of making a swoop for the Aston Villa star, according to reports

Ghana international Albert Adomah could be on his way to English Premier League side Newcastle United, according to The Sun.

The Aston Villa winger has emerged as a surprise summer target for the Toon Army following his impressive showing in the Championship last term.

However, a deal  is only likely should Rafael Benitez fail to land main target Andros Townsend from Crystal Palace.

Newcastle are in the market for a wideman, with Matt Ritchie reportedly on his way out.

The side are on a mission to shore up their squad as they seek to improve upon their 10th finish on the Premier League table last campaign.

Adomah, who has also been linked to former club Middlesbrough, had an unforgettable season last campaign

In 42 league outings, involving 37 starts, the 30-year-old netted 14 times, ending the season as Villa's top scorer.

The goal tally clocked a personal landmark, beating a 12-goal haul for Middlesbrough in 2013-14.

His exploits also earned him a place in the English Football League Team of the Season as well as the Players' Player of the Season gong at Villa's End of Season Awards.

Adomah joined the Claret and Blue from Middlesbrough in summer 2016.
