The Buccaneers were narrowly defeated 1-0 by the Citizens in a Premier Soccer League (PSL) match which was played at the Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
Speaking after the game, Micho said the game was always going to be decided by a moment of brilliance.
“We knew that the match was going to be tight, one moment of brilliance was going to decide it," Sredojevic told SuperSport TV.
A moment of sheer brilliance from Ayanda Patosi after he controlled the ball outside the Pirates box and proceeded to send a powerful long-range rocket beyond the reach of a goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane to make it 1-0 to City in the first-half.
"We entered the game with the intention of building identity, create chances and have variety in attack. We tried everything,” he continued.
The Buccaneers, who are set to finish second in the league, will compete in next season's Caf Champions League.
“After that moment of brilliance in the first we regrouped for the second half. We put all the strikers we have in and exposed ourselves at the back," Micho added.
"Unfortunately [Luvuyo] Memela got injured. We did everything for that moment of brilliance to be on our side, unfortunately, it was not," he said.
"We hit the post with that chance by 'Section' [Thabo Qalinge] unfortunately it didn’t go in. We have learned lessons and are looking forward," he added.
“We believe we have had a wonderful season behind us with one match to go. In the first half of the season we brought to bring stability. It’s a process, we grew up as a team," Sredojevic stressed.
“I want to thank the players for working hard, they have had sleepless and hard working days," he concluded.
Pirates' last game of the season will be against Free State Stars at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday.
