Bafana are set to take on Seychelles on Saturday in the first of two back-to-back fixtures which will be played home and away.
Stuart Baxter’s men recently played out to a goalless draw against Libya, but they will know that nothing less than maximum points against Seychelles will be acceptable.
Nonetheless, Mosimane is hoping that his players can be influential for the national team.
Baxter called up a list of Sundowns players which included Hlompho Kekana and Phakamani Mahlambi among others. Bafana though, have since lost the services of Sibusiso Vilakazi and Thapelo Morena, who were withdrawn due to injury.
“I told the boys (Sundowns players) we want the team in the Africa Cup of Nations!” Mosimane was quoted as saying by Daily Sun.
“We have the two games against Seychelles. There are about six people in the Bafana squad who’ve played against St Michel in the Champions League, and they’re the best team on the island,” he added.
“There were no problems. We hammered them. 85% of St Michel’s players are in the national team. So Bafana have to deliver results in the two games. They have no excuse,” the former Bafana Bafana mentor remarked.
“They have to ensure we have six points extra by the time we go to Libya, probably win (against Libya) or maybe get a draw, as long as Libya don’t beat us,” he said.
Victory will be vital against the islanders as Bafana still have to meet group leaders Libya and the Super Eagles of Nigeria for a second time in Group E.
“We don’t care about whether we have to play Nigeria first. We have to play our cards right. We play in the Champions League (SA teams). We know how the group works. We have to be smart and not emotional,” he said.
“Let the country go to the Africa Cup of Nations,” he concluded.
