Kenya international John Mark Makwatta has told Goal he is pleased by his debut in the Zambian top flight league.

The former Ulinzi Stars and City Stars striker made his first competitive start for Buildcon FC in Monday's exciting league match against Power Dynamos. What's more, Makwatta, 22, weighed in with an assist, as his fierce shot after seven minutes was parried away by the opposing goalkeeper, and consequently finished off by his strike partner Maisha Chavda.

"It is my first match and that went very well. I am pleased with the pace of the games and the support from my teammates," Makwatta, who opted to join the newly promoted Zambian club after his move to Slovakia's second tier side FC Nitra fell through, explained.

The player, who finished atop of the scoring charts in the Kenyan Premier League during the 2016 season, transferred to the high spending Buildcon last month but had to await for three weeks for his clearance to be processed by both the Kenya and Zambia FAs.

Against Dynamos, Makwatta played alongside another Kenyan international Clifton Miheso, plus Ugandan international Isaac Isinde, who played for the Cranes at the recent Africa Cup of Nations in Gabon.
