The Reds must win 1-0 or by two goals if they concede to guarantee qualification when they face Carlo Ancelotti's side at Anfield

Jurgen Klopp says his Liverpool side must learn from their mistakes in order to progress to the Champions League last 16.

The Reds host Napoli on Tuesday in the last round of European group fixtures and currently sit third behind the Italian club and PSG.

Liverpool face a tough task to secure qualification after losing all three of their away group matches for the first time ever, and must win 1-0 or by at least two goals if they concede in order to guarantee a top-two finish.

Speaking to reporters ahead of the game, Klopp said: “The competition is like this. You play the strongest teams and if you want to go through you have to win. We didn’t win often enough to be through already. That is our mistake and now we can put it right if we perform.

"We all know the results we need and it is quite difficult. Napoli are good in possession, counterattack as well, typical Italian team good at defending. It’s a big challenge but if something special is possible it is here and that is why we should try.

"We are in a good moment for weeks and months as a club and a team, we have to use it."

Liverpool lost 1-0 in Naples earlier in the campaign after conceding a last minute Lorenzo Insigne goal.

Klopp was damning of his team's performance in that match but insisted his players have the quality to put things right at Anfield this time around.

“The first game against Napoli was that bad from our side that we can improve everything,” the German added. “We didn’t defend for a second like we wanted and we didn’t play like we wanted to play with the ball.

"But that was six weeks ago. No team in the world are perfect. We are not and Napoli are not. We all have weaknesses.

“It is about using the weaknesses of the opponent. If we are really in the game and the crowd is there then we can go the extra yard. That will be necessary for this game, 100%. I am really looking forward to it.

"It is really cool but difficult. I am really looking forward to it. It is a big opportunity for us and we will try everything to put it right.”
