Tottenham fear Rabiot will sign with rivals


Tottenham are targeting Adrien Rabiot on free transfer this summer but fear he will sign with Liverpool or Barcelona, according to the Daily Star.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino values Rabiot, but faces heavy competition from the likes of Liverpool and Barcelona, as well as Unai Emery and Arsenal, as he managed the midfielder with PSG.

As a result, Spurs fear Rabiot could be another transfer target that slips through their fingers. 

Atlanta United waive McCann


Atlanta United have waived midfielder/defender Chris McCann the MLS side announced.

The 31-year-old former Burnley and Wigan player was one of the team's first signings as an expansion side in 2016, and featured in 45 regular season games for the club.

McCann came on as a late substitute in Atlanta's 2-0 MLS Cup victory over the Portland Timbers in December.

Mertens and Hamsik were Dalian targets


Dalian Yifang wanted both Marek Hamsik and Dries Mertens, but the Chinese Super League club was put off by Napoli's asking price for the latter, according to Tuttosport (via Football Italia).

Hamsik is not with the club as he is expected to have a medical ahead of a €20 million (£18m/$23m) move to China in the coming days.

But Dalian also tried for Mertens, offering a €15m per season salary, but were unwilling to meet Napoli's €45m fee for him.

Gladbach admit doubt on Hazard contract


Borussia Mönchengladbach are working to extend Thorgan Hazard's contract but sporting director Max Eberl is making no promises the club will be able to keep their star. 

Hazard is enjoying another strong season with Gladbach has reportedly drawn the interest of his old coach Lucien Favre at Borussia Dortmund, leading to the uncertainty.

"We would like to extend, that's clear," Eberl said on Sky Germany (via Aachener Zeitung) before Saturday's contest against Hertha BSC. "We are hopeful that it will work, but I can not promise that to anyone."

NYCFC targeting Aberdeen's Mackay-Steven


New York City FC are trying to sign Aberdeen's Gary Mackay-Steven, either prior to the MLS season or when his contract expires, reports the Aberdeen Evening Express.

The MLS side told the Scottish club they intended to attempt to sign the winger to a pre-contract and have aimed to land him before the season gets underway in March.

The offer has been refused by the club, and the 28-year-old Mackay-Steven claims he has yet to decide upon his future.

Napoli have arranged a meeting with Mino Raiola in hopes of securing a deal to sign Mexico star Hirving Lozano from PSV, according to

Hoping to secure personal terms with Lozano, Napoli are set to offer a five-year contract, though questions of Raiola's commission and Lozano's image rights remain unsettled.

Napoli have informed Raiola thay are not willing to enter into an auction for the attacker, who is subject to interest from Arsenal and Barcelona, and hope to secure him for €30 million (£26m/$34m), even if the current asking price is thought to be €40m- €45m. 

Chiesa comments put Inter and Juventus on alert


Federico Chiesa comments this week have put Juventus and Inter on alert for the 21-year-old, according to

Chiesa gave a cryptic comment about his future with Fiorentina, telling Sportweek that "becoming an icon and being at one club for a whole career is complicated."

The 21-year-old has had numerous clubs interested in his services, but Inter and Juventus are seen as the current favourties. 

Milan look to sign Suso through 2024


Milan are looking to sign Suso through 2024 and eliminate his release clause, according to

Suso confirmed he has begun talks with the club over a renewal, and the report says the club are looking to add two more years to his current deal.

It would also see his salary rise from €3 million up to €3.5m-€4m, with Milan looking to get rid of his release clause or, short of that, raising it to €60m and only applicable to foreign clubs.

Newcastle missed out on Benfica's Samaris


Newcastle nearly landed Benfica midfielder Andreas Samaris in the January window, but the Portuguese club pulled out of a deal at the last minute, according to O Jogo.

Samaris has six months left on his contract and Benfica had agreed to €300,000 loan fee with a sell-on clause had he signed on with Newcastle permanently.

However, Benfica late on decided to try to offer Samaris a new contract and he appears receptive toward staying with the club, though no new deal has been signed yet.

Ignazio Abate is considering leaving AC Milan at the end of the season to join LA Galaxy, La Repubblica says.

The 32-year-old joined the San Siro outfit 20 years ago and has made over 300 appearances. His contract will expire at the end of the season and looks set to reunite with fello Mino Raiola client Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the MLS side.

The Vancouver Whitecaps have announced the signing of 20-year-old striker Joaquín Ardaiz from FC Chiasso of Switzerland's second division.

The 20-year-old Uruguay youth international will join the MLS side on a season-long loan with an option to purchase the player.

Marek Hamsik has been left out of Napoli's squad to face Fiorentina on Saturday amid reports his move to Dalian Yifang is nearing completion.

Hamsik appeared poised to complete a switch to the Chinese Super League outfit earlier this week, before Napoli postponed the transfer over an issue related to the structure of the payments in a purported €20 million (£18m/$23m) deal.

Those issues appear to have been smoothed over, and Hamsik will miss out on the clash as his exit nears.

United States international Darlington Nagbe may have an issue brewing with his club Atlanta United, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The midfielder has not played in either of Atlanta's first two scrimmages, suiting up for the reserves in another scrimmage, with both Nagbe and the club declining to speak about the player's situation.

Coach Frank de Boer claimed his latest absence was due to lack of training and familiarity with the formation, but as the publication notes, it is a similar setup to what was used under Tata Martino, in which Nagbe was considered essential.

Tottenham planning £35m swoop for West Ham's Rice


Spurs will face competition from Liverpool for the Ireland international

Tottenham are planning to make a £35 million ($45m) approach for West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, according to the Express.

Spurs are concerned over a possible departure of Christian Eriksen, as his contract expires in 2020 and Real Madrid are reportedly interested.

Rice, who could help fill Eriksen's void, has been monitored by Tottenham for a while, though they'll face a battle with Liverpool, who are also interested.
