Atlanta United may again break the Major League Soccer transfer record by bringing in River Plate midfielder Gonzalo "Pity" Hernandez, according to Estudio Futbol.

The MLS side would pay Hernandez's release clause of $17 million (€15m) to sign him, which would top the previous record of $15m the team paid for Ezequiel Barco.

Scholes surprised Mourinho has avoided the sack

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has slammed manager Jose Mourinho, saying the Portuguese is "embarrassing the club."

Aside from the club's struggles on the field, Mourinho has made plenty of headlines for ongoing feuds with his players and the club's board.

Mourinho is fighting for his job, and Scholes has opined that he is surprised the Portuguese even managed to keep his job after the defeat to West Ham.

The former Real Madrid manager is in no rush to return to the sidelines, and he believes taking over a struggling team midseason could tarnish his image.

Sancho signs new Dortmund deal

Borussia Dortmund have rewarded Jadon Sancho's bright performances with a new contract after sporting director Michael Zorc compared the teenage winger to Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele.

The 18-year-old Englishman is making quite a name for himself in Germany after his move to the Bundesliga in 2017, encouraging Dortmund to tie him to a deal that lasts until 2022.

His game has been taken to a new level this season and Dortmund are delighted with the progress Sancho is making with Zorc telling Funke Media: “He's brutally good, he can do things I have rarely seen."

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s new contract at Lazio does not include a release clause, claims the agent of the midfielder heavily linked with the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.

A €100 million (£89m/$115m) fee was reported to have been included as an option in the new deal for Serie A rivals to acquire the Serbia international.

Mateja Kezman, who represents Milinkovic-Savic, has, however, refuted claims that such an agreement was struck, explaining the new contract was for other reasons.
