Kaizer Chiefs winger Lebese responds to Sundowns links

The talented player has had a good pre-season with Chiefs having scored against Free State Stars and Botswana side Township Rollers in friendly games

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Lebese has broke his silence about the reported interest from Mamelodi Sundowns.

The 28-year-old winger was reportedly unsettled at Chiefs last season as he struggled to command a regular place in the team's starting line-up.

Lebese made only 14 PSL starts as Zimbabwean winger Edmore Chirambadare was preferred ahead of him at times by Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela.

Reports linking Lebese with a move away from the Naturena-based side emerged towards the end of the campaign.

“I am still with Kaizer Chiefs and that’s about as far as I go and where it stands at the moment. I am happy‚” Lebese told The Sowetan.

The Mamelodi-born was heavily linked with his hometown club Sundowns, but he has refuted the reports stating that he could join the Brazilians during the current Transfer Window.

“I have heard the rumours about me joining Sundowns and to be honest they (the speculations) have been with me since I turned pro," he continued.

"I am from Mamelodi and that’s my home‚ so the speculation doesn’t surprise me‚” he concluded.

Lebese is left with another season on his Chiefs deal having signed a three-year extension in June, 2015.
