Lebese is likely to remain at Chiefs at least until his contract comes to an end in June 2018 unless the club decides to cash in on him before then

Kaizer Chiefs have responded to George Lebese's controversial tweet where he expressed his dissatisfaction at the amount of game time he got under Steve Komphela last season.

The 28-year-old said all he wanted was to play [regular] football, suggesting that he wouldn't mind leaving Amakhosi for another team.

His tweet sparked talk of a possible exit from the club, but the Soweto giants appear to be relaxed over the situation.

According to Amakhosi's communications manager VIna Maphosa, the club won't pay too much attention on what Lebese said on social media.

He reiterated that Lebese still has a running contract with Chiefs, adding that whoever is interested to sign any of their contracted players should follow the right channels.

"What I can say is that George still has a contract with Chiefs. We won't pay attention to what he wrote on Twitter. Teams that want our players know the channels they have to follow," Maphosa was quoted as saying by Isolezwe

Several PSL clubs, including Mamelodi Sundowns, have previously shown interest in Lebese, but the left-footed winger opted to renew his contract with Chiefs in 2015.

Lebese's current deal with the Naturena-based outfit will expire at the of June 2018.
