Gordinho says he won’t describe his trial stint with Danish side Aalborg BK as a failure, but as an experience that has helped him grow

Kaizer Chiefs defender Lorenzo Gordinho says he is not disappointed that he couldn’t secure a move to Europe in the January transfer window.

The 22-year-old spent a week at Aalborg BK, and while the Danish club decided against offering him a contract, he strongly believes that the trial helped him grow as a player.

Gordinho added that he will now focus on fighting for his place in the Amakhosi team now that he's back in the PSL.

“It wasn’t a failure. It was an experience to help me grow, and it is football. There are thousands of players that go on trial and don’t make it. It just depends on where you’re best suited,” Gordinho told Goal.

“Maybe at the time the club wasn’t looking at me to come on board, and it’s not the end of the world. I’m back here [at Chiefs] and ready to fight for position again,” he said.

The Boksburg-born player was given the chance to impress in a friendly match against German side Hoffenheim, and although he was on the losing side, Gordinho gave a good account of himself.

He is pleased with the feedback he got from Aalborg BK as well as the amount of experience he gained whilst training with Morten Wieghorst’s team.

“I think it was good; all good remarks and it was a good experience,” the Amakhosi centre-back added.
