Plateau United’s Jimmy Ambrose has stated that they will get better with more friendly games after another drab draw with Mighty Jets in a test game on Wednesday.
The Peace Boys have won only one from three recent games played in Jos but Ambrose disclosed that they noticed some areas of improvement against their neighbours, Mighty Jets and they want to build on that.
He said it is germane for them to play more friendly games so that it will enable them to perfect their act before the league season continues.
“We managed to play a goalless draw against Mighty Jets but on a serious note we can’t expect more from a local derby,” he told Goal.
“It is always like a war when we play against Mighty Jets because we are in the same city. It was a tough game but we were able to repel them. We were able to see the areas we needed to improve on ahead of subsequent games.
“We will still need to play a few more friendly games to enable us correct other areas that we must work on before the remaining games of the season are completed. I know that we have what it takes to hold our own. It is by continuous practice that we can remain as solid as ever.”
The combative midfielder confirmed that their other friendly tie with Jazzy Stars has been put on hold for now but he did say that he doesn’t expect them to be a match to them with the 5-2 defeat they suffered in their last fixture with them still fresh.
“I don’t think we are going to play Jazzy Stars any time soon. It may, however, hold later but not now,” he added.
“We should be looking at other tough opponents because we had already beaten them 5-2 before in our last friendly with them last month. We are hopeful of continuing the way we ended the season last season as champions.”
