At long last, the cloak has been lifted and JDT have now revealed who the replacement for Luciano Figueroa is. It will be Brazilian striker Jorge Santos Silva.
Silva is a 31-year-old who has spent a good chunk of his career in the Malta first division where he played for six different club and amassed a total of 51 goals along the way.
His latest sojourn prior to signing for JDT was in Saudi Arabia where he was part of the Al-Batin team that competed in the Professional League, the top tier league of the country.
Silva also found his scoring touch in the middle east, claiming 27 goals for Al-Batin since joining them two years ago in 2016.
In recent months, JDT has found the going tough at least in certain games in the domestic calendar and particularly in the regional competition AFC Cup, without the services of their import players.
Now Silva will join Harry Novillo as the reigning Super League champions look to find their way back to their formerly dominant self.
Hazwan Bakri and to a lesser extent, Syafiq Ahmad has been used while waiting this transfer window to arrive and it's fair to say, neither has produced enough to make Silva doubt his starting XI position.
However it is still very early days to know whether Silva will turned out to be the next Figueroa or whether he will be the next Jeronimo Barrales, the latter now with Argentina's top tier club Gimnasia La Plata.
Yet, Silva's arrival should signal some form of alternatives at the very least, should there be a need for a change of plans or tactics from game to game or even between games.
The move also showed JDT's desire to march on to their fifth successive Super League title and a place in the elusive AFC Champions League next season.
