Cesar has a vast coaching experience in Spain's top division. He was at the helm of affairs at Atletico Madrid during the 2004-05 season. Spanish legend Fernando Torres and current Atletico coach Diego Simeone have played under the tutelage of Ferrando.
During a chat with Goal, the coach suggested that he is happy with how things are progressing at Jamshedpur FC. He said, “I am very happy to be here and I hope that at the end of the season, I stay happier than what I am at the moment.”
“We did pre-season in Spain. We stayed at the headquarters of Atletico Madrid. They have great training fields. We had a few injuries but that is fine now. I hope before the first match of the season, the entire squad is fit and ready to play," Ferrando stated.
With a Spanish coach coming in place of an Englishman, it is expected that the fans of Jamshedpur FC will witness a change in the style of play.
Ferrando elaborated on the kind of football the fans can expect from the club this year. He said, “I am from Spain and in Spain, we have our own football philosophy. Like we focus on short passes, keeping the possession but the most important thing is to win matches. I hope at Jamshedpur, we will be able to do well.”
The Spanish coach was all praise for the club’s marquee signing Tim Cahill. He pointed out that the former Everton star is a great addition to the squad and will be of great help to him in the dressing room.
Cesar said, “Tim (Cahill) has a big influence on the team. If you watch our training you will see that he is always speaking to the young players. He is a big support for the coach inside the dressing room. He is a leader for us.”
The former Atletico Madrid coach also revealed that he is satisfied with the quality of Indian players in the Jamshedpur squad. He said, “I am very happy with the Indian boys in our squad. They always want to learn. For me, that is very important. I don’t know about the level of other Indian players but for me, the best Indian players are in my team.”
The Jamshedpur boss had a message for the fans while outlining his objectives for the season. He said, “I hope at the end of the season, all the supporters are proud of the players. For me personally at the end of the season when I look back, I want to see the team improve. The performance of the team is the most important thing for me. That is my aim and my challenge.”
