The U-15 Indian girls finished as runners-up at the SAFF U-15 Women’s Championship held in Dhaka on Sunday.
The girls, coached by Maymol Rocky, were defeated by Bangladesh in the final as Shamsun Nahar found the net in the 41st minute for the hosts.
India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan participated in the tournament with India bagging impressive wins against Nepal and Bhutan. In their inaugural tie, the Indian girls got the better of Bhutan as Kritina Devi, Priyanga Devi and Pratiksha Lakra registered their names on the score-sheet in a 3-0 victory.
Later, Indian girls clinched an emphatic 10-0 win over Nepal which saw Priyanka Devi and Sunita Munda bag a hat-trick each.
Their winning ways were brought to an end in the third match as they bowed down to Bangladesh in a 3-0 full-time result. The Indian team failed to turn-around their result in their second face-off with Bangladesh which meant that they ended the tournament as the runners-up.
