The French Ligue 1 side have made some progress in their bid to acquire the services of the Ghanaian midfielder ahead of the new season

Ghana midfielder David Accam is on the verge of joining French Ligue 1 side Guingamp from Chicago Fire, according to Yahoo France.

The French club is believed to have submitted an offer of around $2.9 million to the Major League Soccer side for the services of the 26-year-old ahead of the new season.

Guingamp are hoping to strengthen their midfield after an underwhelming 2016-17 campaign in which they had to settle for tenth place on the table, prompting manager Antoine Kombouare to turn attention to the Ghanaian.

The club has already secured the services of South Africa international Lebogang Phiri from Brondby and would want to add the Stoke City target to their list.

Accam, who joined Fire from Swedish club Helsingborg in 2015, has since been influential in the club's success and was adjudged the best player last season after scoring nine goals in 24 games.

He has netted 10 times this season for Fire after only 17 games including two assists as they hope to qualify for the playoffs.

Accam boasts of 10 international appearances with Ghana and has scored one goal.
