K'Ogalo coach Dylan Kerr explains why some of the players were benched against Nakumatt in a Kenyan Premier League match

Gor Mahia shot stopper Boniface Oluoch was left on the bench against Nakumatt FC with Peter Odhiambo continuing in goal.

Timothy Otieno was another player on the bench despite his good form of late and coach Dylan Kerr has explained the reason behind it.

"Competition is healthy for any team. Yes, Oluoch is back in contention but Odhiambo is also a good goalkeeper and he has shown it on the pitch.

"No one has a God-given right to play, you have to work for that jersey and ensure you keep it; same as having a girlfriend or wife, if you do not work hard to make her happy and treat her nice, someone else will take her away from you. It is a message to all players, not an individual."

Kerr is also impressed with K'Ogalo's backline. "The defense has improved massively, and that is what we want to see, against Nakumatt we were solid and defended our lead well."

Gor Mahia are leading the log with 34 points and will be facing Muhoroni Youth in their next outing.
