Ghana have begun preparations for their upcoming double header of friendlies, with 21 players reporting on the first day at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.

The team is back together following a one-week break after their 5-0 thrashing of Ethiopia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Present were the likes of captain Asamoah Gyan, Atletico Madrid star Thomas Teye Partey and Abdul Majeed Waris.

West Ham United attacker Andre Ayew and Swansea City frontman Jordan Ayew were, however, not present amid ongoing talks between the Ghana Football Association and their clubs for permission ahead of preseason.

Daniel Amartey, whose club Leicester City, also asked for his omission from the squad for the friendlies over the same concern was, however, present for training.

Torino midfielder Afriyie Acquah was also absent from Monday's training, with the Black Stars set to fly out of Accra on Saturday.

The USA-based quartet of Jonathan Mensah, Harrison Afful, Mohammed Abu and David Accam are expected to link up with the team in the States.

Reports say Miami FC midfielder Kwadwo Poku has received a late invite for the games, and will also join the team in the USA.

The Black Stars are set to face Mexico at Houston's NRG Stadium in Texas on June 28, after which they play the USA at the Pratt & Whitney Stadium in East Hartford, Connecticut three days later.
