Fully recovered Kaizer Chiefs winger George Lebese raring to go

Lebese is willing to fight to reclaim his place back in the Amakhosi starting line up after recovering from an injury

Kaizer Chiefs are set to take on Highlands Park this weekend at the Moses Mabhida stadium in Durban.

After an indifferent first round of their Premier Soccer League(PSL) campaign, the Amakhosi have turned their fortunes around and now sit one point off the summit.

The Soweto giants are now firmly in title contention and they have done it without their talismanic winger George Lebese. The 28-year-old has been side-lined by injury since December but is now fully recovered.

Lebese found himself in the Chiefs match day squad against Maritzburg United but was forced to watch from the bench as Steve Komphela’s men earned a valuable three points.

The attacking player has praised his team’s efforts and is now raring to go. Lebese has lost his place to Zimbabwean Edmore Chirambadare but has expressed his desire to fight for his place now that he is fit.

“It’s good for the team, and the guys are performing very well,” Lebese told Phakaaathi.

“I’m fit now, and the guys are doing well and on a good run of form. So I’ve got to keep fighting to be back into the team.”

“Obviously, we didn’t start well, but we got the momentum at the right time.”

Lebese believes that Chiefs can still win the title and the focus should always be on keeping the fans happy.

“We are still competing for the title, which is most important now. So long as we see smiles on the supporters … it’s good for us,” Lebese concluded.
