Financial boost for Aduana ahead of ES Setif Champions League showdown

The Ghana Football Association has moved to motivate the Fire Boys as they prepare to face their Algerian counterparts

Ghana's sole survivors in Africa, Aduana Stars, have received a financial incentive ahead of their Caf Champions League clash with Algerian side ES Setif on Wednesday. 

To help their campaign in the first round of the elite continental inter-club competition, the Fire Boys have been handed a sum of $30,000 by Ghana FA. 

"The GFA Executive Committee has agreed to give Aduana Stars an amount of $30,000 to boost their preparations for their upcoming CAF Champions League match against ES Setif," the football governing body have announced. 

"The Ghanaian League Champions will host their Algerian opponents in the first of the two-legged games at the the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park in Dormaa on Wednesday March 7.

"At its last meeting held in Accra on Thursday, the GFA Executive Committee unanimously agreed to support Ghana’s remaining club on the continental stage as they seek to break into the Group stages of the competition."

The return leg of Wednesday's fixture is set for March 16.

Aduana beat Libyan side Al-Tahaddy 2-1 on aggregate to reach the first round. 

Asante Kotoko, Ghana's sole representatives in the Confederation Cup, could not go past the preliminary stage.
