Senegal President, Macky Sall has handed over the nation's flag to the Teranga Lions ahead of their participation at the 2018 Fifa World Cup.

Aliou Cisse's men will make their second appearance at the global football fiesta in Russia and they have been pitted alongside Poland, Japan and Colombia in Group H.

In a mini ceremony, Sall hosted the players and coaches in the Presidential Palace and passed the country's message to them before their departure to France.

“Dear Lions, I am pleased to give you, with confidence, the national flag, the symbol of our sovereignty, the emblem of the glorious history of our Republic,” Sall tweeted.

"Under the living colours of this flag, you will take part in this competition to represent with brilliance, honour and fighting spirit of our country which has always been able to respect its rendezvous with history.

"This qualification is the result of your work, a stubborn, methodical and persevering work that is the expression of the dynamism and vitality of our youth.

"The Senegalese people gathered in a warm communion and fervent prayers are entitled to expect a beautiful and honorable participation of their national team.

"Take every game like a final, give yourself without counting, triumph over the shackles, push the limits of the possible, be hungry for victories, glory and merit by going to the end of your dream."

Senegal will continue their training in Vittel this weekend before their international friendly game against Luxembourg on May 31 before they play Croatia and Korea Republic on June 7 and 10 respectively.

They will begin their 2018 World Cup campaign against Poland on June 19 at the Otkritie Arena.
