The U.S. will close out 2017 with a pair of friendlies against John Herdman's side – one on either side of the border

U.S. women's national team manager Jill Ellis has named a 23-player roster for her side's upcoming pair of friendlies against Canada.

The U.S. will close out 2017 with the two matches, one of which will be on Nov. 9 at BC Place in Vancouver and the other on Nov. 12 at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif.

"To play Canada in Vancouver is another excellent challenge for our team," Ellis said in a federation release.

"It's a great rivalry with some classic history and these two matches in the home-and-home series will cap an important year in our growth towards 2019.

"We've targeted and evaluated a lot of players this year and moving forward, I'm genuinely excited to keep building with the group we have now."

Ellis has handed a first call-up to Chioma Ubogagu of the Orlando Pride. Ubogagu, 25, was born in London but has represented the U.S. at various youth levels.

Missing out on the roster are Crystal Dunn, who was not released by Chelsea with the Blues competing in the Champions League, and Mallory Pugh, Morgan Brian and Rose Lavelle, all of whom are nursing injuries.
