Nigeria women head coach Thomas has praised Faith Ikidi after helping Pitea IF secure their first ever Swedish Damallsvenskan title the season in a 6-1 mauling of Vaxjo on Saturday.
The Super Falcons defender put on fine display to ensure her Swedish side celebrated their first domestic title on the final day, edging Kopparberg/Göteborg and Rosengard to the top spot.
In the end, the 31-year-old, who made 20 appearances for Stellan Carlsson’s ladies, helped her side finish their impressive campaign this season on top with 48 points to claim the crown.
“I am super proud of her. Honestly, for a couple of years, she has been very stable and really been playing on a really high standard,” Dennerby told Goal.
“She is definitely really a very good player. Being on top of her game every week and in every match. She is a top professional with a lot of experience playing in Sweden for many years now.
“I could not see her so much. When I was back in Sweden, I went to see one game because it was far from where I live but in that match, the coach allowed her rest. I am super proud of her.”
“She is one of the types that are really professional and knows what it takes to become the best,” he continued.
“She will have a really huge influence on the younger Nigerian players to show them how to prepare for a big tournament.
"Hopefully, she will have a lot to add to the team in terms of her professionalism. She will surely help us with a strong defence.”
