Ghana striker Edwin Gyasi has completed a two-and-half-year move to Bulgarian top-flight CSKA Sofia from Norwegian second-tier outfit FK Aalesund, both clubs have confirmed.

The 26-year-old was heavily linked to English Championship sides Sunderland and Birmingham City during the January transfer window but no deal was eventually reached.

"CSKA have signed with the Ghanaian national player Edwin Gyasi. The management has agreed on his rights with his former club Aalesunds FK club from Norway, and today the player initiated his personal contract," club statement read.

"Gyasi is a Dutchman at birth, and grows up in the country where he builds himself as a footballer. Because of his Ghanaian parents, he received an invitation to play for the African country for which he recorded two matches and one goal against Egypt in the last World Cup qualifiers.

"We wish Edwin Gyasi a lot of health, luck and success with the red team," the statement added.

Gyasi admitted his happiness, vowing to win more trophies in Bulgaria.

"I cannot wait to start training with the team. I am glad to be part of the greatest Bulgarian club, in which world known players such as Stoichkov and Berbatov have played," Gyasi told the club's website.

"The ambition for trophies and big games in Europe has brought me to CSKA. Roland Alberg told me about the fantastic fans and the good atmosphere at the club," he added.
