The duo are hoping to impress in Ghana following their inclusion in the 2018 Africa Women's Cup of Nations squad

Chinwendu Ihezuo and Christy Oheriaeku described their selection into the final 21-woman  squad for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations as a ‘honour’.

Head coach Thomas Dennerby announced his final list for the tournament as they look set to defend the title they won two years ago in Cameroon.

Ihezuo who features for BIIK Kazygurt of Kazakhstan had previously starred for the country at the Fifa U17 and U20 Women’s World Cups, is eager to help the team excel in Ghana.

“It’s a honour to make the final squad to the Africa Women’s Cup of Nations, I will do my best in Ghana,” Ihezuo told Goal.

“I am looking forward to performing better in the national team and showing the stuff I  am made of. As a striker, what matters is to score and that was my prayer before the game.

“It feels very great to be in the Super Falcons since playing at the U17 and U20 level and, a privilege I thank God for, and Nigerians for the support."

For the Confluence Queens goalkeeper, who was part of the 2014 title-winning squad, she is delighted being handed her second appearance and promises to impress if given a chance.

“It's a rare privilege to represent my country again at the African Women's Cup of Nations and I am humbled by the opportunity," said Ohiaeriaku.

“I was part of the 2014 campaign in Namibia, where we won the title and also the last World Cup in Canada. It was an unforgettable experience, even though could not play, I learned a lot.

“I am here again and I promise to keep working hard to help the team when the opportunity comes. I appreciate the coaching staff for finding me worthy of a place on the squad.

“Thanks to coach Maureen and our keeper trainer. They have been working tirelessly each and every day to bring the best out of the keepers. I am confident that we will win again this time.”
