Enyimba’s Mfon Udoh has admitted that they were toughened by Chidex FC in Tuesday evening friendly match.
Goals from Stanley Dimgba and Austin Oladapo handed the Aba giants a 2-0 victory to the hosts and their skipper that the non-league side were worthy opponents and ideal test for them ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup tie against Djoliba of Mali on Sunday.
“This was a tough game for us by all standards because we never expected them to toughen us the way they did,” Udoh told Goal.
“Many that heard the name of the opponents they lined up for us will think that we are going to be rolling over them but it was the reverse. They were a very good side and they showed with their touches and their overall play throughout the encounter.
“They didn’t give us breathing space at all. I see the team going places if the players can keep it cool and stay humble. It was a game we used to test the corrections we have made after the friendly game against our feeder team.”
He further stressed that with the results they have recorded in their last two friendly games and the way they approached the fixtures he could say that they are almost set for the game in Bamako.
“We can say without mincing words that we are almost ready for Djoliba,” he continued.
“We shall go there with the determination and the conviction that we can do it. We won’t be intimidated because we know that the victory we recorded against them at home has given us a slight edge.
“We do not want to be eliminated at this stage and it is our resolve to face Djoliba with the right frame of mind and a determined zeal to win. We do not want to think of anything other than a positive result and we shall work towards it.”
