Chico Ofoedu's brace powers Maccabi Tel Aviv to Israeli Premier League summit

The 28-year-old's first-half goals helped Maccabi climbed to the top of the log

Chico Ofoedu found the back of the net twice as Maccabi Tel Aviv hammered rivals Hapoel Hadera 4-0 to move to the summit of the Israeli top-flight table.

Vladimir Ivic's side dominated their visitors and secured a comfortable victory at the Winner Stadium on Saturday.

The former Enugu Rangers attacker opened the scoring in the seventh minute and later doubled his team's lead in the 32nd minute.

Goals from Itay Shechter and Saborit completed the rout as Maccabi extended their unbeaten run to seven games in the 2018-19 league campaign.

Ofoedu has notched three goals in seven league outings since he joined the Israeli outfit from Eskisehirspor in the summer.

Maccabi Tel Aviv lead the Israeli Premier League standings with 17 points from seven games and their next outing is against Hapoel Haifa on October 28.
