The Citizens have added yet another attacking player to their ranks following the signing of the Ugandan winger

Cape Town City have bolstered their attacking department even further with the signing of Ugandan winger Allan Kateregga.

The 23-year-old, who was most recently plying his trade for Ugandan Premier League champions Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) after he was sent out on loan by his parent club Kenyan top flight outfit AFC Leopards, is set to join up with other new signings in Bradley Ralani, Kwanda Mngonyama and Masoud Juma at the Cape Town-based outfit.

With City currently sitting in second place on the Premier Soccer League (PSL) table and with a Caf Confederation Cup coming up in February, coach Benni McCarthy will be hoping that Kateregga’s experience will play an integral role in their rise up the African football ladder.

Kateregga can be described as a skilful playmaker, who plays predominantly on the left wing, but can also play on the right and as an attacking midfielder.

His height may also make him an asset from set-pieces and gives City an added dimension in the final third.

Meanwhile, City boss John Comitis has explained that the City coach immediately bought into the striker on his first look.

"I sat with Benni and we discussed the need for a left-footed playmaker and winger that could add something unique going forward,” Comitis told the club’s website.

"There were a few options for us in the market, but once Benni saw Kateregga play, he basically just simply said 'this is the one',” Comitis concluded.

Kateregga’s signing also means that City now do not have any more spots available in their foreign quota. City currently have Roland Putsche, Edmilson Dove, Victor Obinna, Juma and now Kateregga on their books.

City subsequently took to their Twitter account to unveil their latest signing.
