The Celtic coach has attempted to cool some of the hype surrounding the Australian teenager

Daniel Arzani is the name on every Australian football fan's lips at the moment, but Celtic coach Brendan Rodgers believes the teenager needs to step back into reality with the Hoops.

After impressing off the bench at the World Cup for the Socceroos, Arzani sealed a move to Manchester City and a subsequent two-year loan to Celtic.

Restricted to academy appearances to date for the club, Rodgers stressed the 19-year-old can't be expected to star straight away for the Scottish giants.

"He came out of nowhere and went to the World Cup, became the youngest player there," Rodgers said.

"All of a sudden there’s a spotlight on him, so this is about him taking a step back into reality again.

"This is a boy who had never played 90 minutes of senior football, but people are expecting him to come in and be like Eden Hazard or Harry Kewell. Sorry to burst the bubble, but he needs a bit of time to build up his fitness and confidence.

"He’s adapting to a new country after hardly being out of Australia. And he’s still only 19. I’m sure in time he’ll prove to be a very, very good young player."

Arzani wasn't included in Celtic's recent Europa League squad as he continues to be eased into the first-team set-up.

In just his second appearance for the Hoops academy side, the Australian did find the back of the net with a pin-point free-kick to prove why there is so much hype around him right now.
