Lobi Stars' Rapael Ayagwa was left with mixed feelings following the news of his call-up to the Super Eagles.
The midfielder was invited to the Nigeria national team for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifier but was left disappointed unable to share such news with his deceased father.
"I dedicate this call-up to my late dad who so much believe in me. I feel so sad because he is not here to witness this moment to see my dream come true," Ayagwa told Goal.
"This is what he has always wished for me, to play in the national team but now that the dream seems to have come true but he isn't around to see it, I believe he is celebrating for me right now in heaven.
"I also want to thank my teammates and the fans for believing in me without them I won't have been where I am today.
"I also thank the technical crew of the national team for giving me the opportunity at the national level, now it's time for me to grab it by showing consistency so as to make the final list."
