Midfielder Appiah McCarthy talks about the Miners' ambitions ahead of Wednesday's league tie

Ashanti Gold are determined to continue their winning run in the Ghana Premier League when they host Karela FC on Wednesday.

Ahead of matchday three, the Miners sit top of the table following 1-0 and 3-1 victories over 2015-16 champions Wa All Stars and Hearts of Oak.

New boys Karela, however, will not go down without a fight, having lost to Medeama (1-0) and drawn with Eleven Wonders (1-1).

“So far so good, no one expected us to have this good start but here we are on top of the table," midfielder Appiah McCarthy told Footballmadeinghana.

"We want to make it three out of three. Karela United are yet to win a game in the league, so they will be motivated to give their all in this game.

"We are also working very hard to continue our fine start."

A significant change at the Miners this season has been the presence of Danish technical director John Christiansen.

McCarthy shares his thoughts on the expat: "He [Christiansen] is serious and he’s ready to do the job.

"He, together with our head coach [CK Akonnor] will put their heads together and make us a force to reckon with as you have already seen in our first two games."

McCarthy joined Ashgold from lower tier side Asokwa Deportivo last year.
