Match Preview

Sarri's first season in charge of the Blues will undoubtedly require him to return the squad to the Champions League at the very minimum. Former manager Antonio Conte was dismissed for placing Chelsea in fifth spot, despite winning the league in his first term and winning the FA Cup in his second.

The West London side won 1-0 against Perth Glory in Sarri's first game in charge of the club but only managed to register victory over Inter in the next game by way of penalties. His recoup of midfielder Jorginho, who followed him from Napoli, shows his intention of implementing his famed 'Sarriball' to the FA Cup champions – though Sarri will need more time to have his squad fully understand the philosophy.

Stars such as Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois are still enjoying their post-World Cup holidays after spearheading Belgium to a third-placed finish in Russia, though the two are still the subject of rumoured transfer interest from the likes of Real Madrid.

Arsenal, on the other hand, are also set to embark on a new era under ex-PSG manager Emery and are readying for their first ever season competing in the Premier League without long-term manager Arsene Wenger.

The Gunners will be strengthened by the attacking likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette, who had the entire summer off, while Mesut Ozil has also returned to the fold following his abrupt retirement from German national team duty.

The North Londoners finished in sixth place in the Premier League and will also be aiming to return to the Champions League.
