Ajax Cape Town coach Menzo keen to end Orlando Pirates top eight hopes

The former Ajax Amsterdam goalkeeper has revealed his plan for struggling Pirates, who are under the guidance of Kjell Jonevret

Ajax Cape Town coach Stanley Menzo says all the pressure is on Orlando Pirates ahead of their PSL encounter at the Orlando Stadium on Wednesday.

Pirates will be looking to keep their hopes of finishing in the top eight alive against Ajax, who are placed eighth - four points ahead 10th-place Bucs with two games left.

Menzo has adopted a cautious approach ahead of their clash with the Buccaneers, who have never finished outside the top eight in the PSL era.

“It’s more of a ‘cup final’ for them than for us‚” Menzo was quoted on The Sowetan.

The 53-year-old tactician made it clear that they aim to consolidate their spot in the top half and which would see them qualify for next season's MTN8 Cup.

“They 'have' to [make the top eight] and we 'want' to‚ and we will go there and try to save our top eight position. It is up to them to see what they can do," he continued.

“We play away and we don’t have to make [the running in] the game. We will see what they do and try then to do our own thing," Menzo concluded.

The Urban Warriors are oozing with confidence having won their last three league games, while the Buccaneers are winless in three league matches.
