AFC Leopards will not feature in the Simba Day celebrations after the Tanzanian side invited Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko for the annual event.

AFC Leopards had earlier confirmed that they will honor the invite for the event scheduled for August 8 in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.

“The game will be played in mid-week and so it's easy for us because it will not interfere with our league schedule. I think it is also an opportunity for players, who haven't been playing much to showcase what they can do."

Simba have however, announced that that they will instead, take on Kotoko in the celebration that will see the club award top performers and also unveil their new players.

“On that day, Simba will play a giant club from this continent, a popular and seasoned side with a rich history in African football, the biggest club in West Africa....Yes, it is Asante Kotoko from Ghana," said Simba Media Liason officer Haji Manara at a press briefing.
