Aduana Stars general captain Emmanuel Akuoko says they have no option than to beat Ivorian side Asec Mimosas in their next Caf Confederation Cup game following Sunday's reversal to Congolese outfit AS Vita Club.
On the search for their second win of the group stage, the Fire Boys suffered a major setback in Kinshasa as they slumped to a 2-0 defeat in the matchday four fixture.
The result has left Kenichi Yatsuhashi's club third on the four-team table, a point above bottom-placed Asec, but three and four marks below second-positioned Vita and leaders Raja Casablanca of Morocco respectively.
"We apologize to Ghanaians for the result," Akuoko told Oyerepa FM.
"We hope to make amends in our next game.
“We were hoping to at least get a point, but that didn’t materialize.
"As a team, we have to put the loss against Vita Club behind us and strategize for the match against Asec.
“That particular match is a must-win and my colleagues know that if only we want to qualify for the quarter finals, we have no other business but to beat Asec Mimosas."
Aduana are set to host Asec on the penultimate group matchday on August 19, before rounding off the series away at Raja.
In the group stage of the competition for the first time ever, the Fire Boys are hoping to secure a top two finish to historically qualify for the quarter-finals.
