Commentary

Germany survive to fight another day then, and they'll face England in the round of 16 at Wembley. If past meetings between the sides are anything to go by, that match is going to be a cracker. That's all for now. Goodbye!
With France and Portugal also drawing 2-2 in Budapest, Germany finish second in Group F with France ending up topping the group. Portugal scrape through to the next round in third place, while Hungary's tournament is sadly over. The Hungarians were never embarrassed in their three group games. They just couldn't beat three stronger opponents.
Germany break Hungarian hearts by salvaging a draw from a topsy-turvy game! Germany had to dig deep here after falling behind twice to a tenacious Hungary side. In the end it was the substitute Goretzka who got the vital second equaliser to send Germany through to the round of 16 and Hungary out of Euro 2020.
90' + 4' FULL-TIME: GERMANY 2-2 HUNGARY
90' + 3' Germany knock the ball around carefully, forcing Hungary to venture upfield. The visitors get caught out and Germany break, but Sane can't pick out the right cross.
90' + 2' Germany win two more corners, playing it safe with both of them. Hungary will be disappointed. They've given Germany everything they've got.
90' Musiala wins a free-kick down Germany's left off Botka. Germany soon follow that up with a corner. They wisely keep it near the corner flag. There'll be four more minutes of this.
G. Lovrencsics
L. Kleinheisler
Hungary
89' Kleinheisler also makes way after putting in a shift for Hungary. Lovrencsics comes on for him.
N. Nikolić
A. Fiola
Hungary
88' Hungary have started throwing forwards on. The Fehervar striker Nikolic replaces Fiola.
87' Musiala shows great feet to buy Germany a throw-in near Hungary's corner flag. The youngster has made an impact since coming on.
86' Now it's Hungary who need another goal after having led twice in this game. Kimmich gets a crucial foot in to stop the visitors getting into the box. A throw-in is what they'll have to settle for.
85' That's Goretzka's fifth goal in his last 10 appearances for Germany and his 14th in total for his country. He's still key for Germany despite an injury-disrupted season.
L. Goretzka
Goal
Germany
84' GOAL! GERMANY 2-2 HUNGARY! Germany's boldness pays off as their two substitutes combine! Werner crashes a shot against a defender in the box after receiving a pass from Goretzka. Goretzka is first to the follow-up and a slight deflection takes his shot past Gulacsi!
K. Volland
M. Ginter
Germany
82' Ginter is also sacrificed for the Monaco forward Volland. It's all-out attack for Germany now.
J. Musiala
R. Gosens
Germany
82' Germany have no option but to take risks now. The 18-year-old Musiala comes on for Gosens.
K. Varga
Ádám Szalai
Hungary
82' Hungary substitution. Their talisman Adam Szalai is replaced up front by Varga.
81' Chance for Germany! Kroos lashes across goal from the left of the box as he races onto Gosens' pass. Hungary are relieved to watch the shot roll just wide of the far post.
79' Germany are huffing and puffing but Hungary are still looking fairly comfortable. Muller gets on the end of Kroos' cross but the Bayern Munich man can't keep his header down.
77' Germany try in vain to create another shooting opportunity but Hungary are closing every angle down. Kroos sends a looping ball over the top but it lands to Gulacsi before Goretzka can reach it.
S. Schön
R. Sallai
Hungary
75' Hungary make a substitution. Sallai is replaced by the FC Dallas winger Schon.
74' Adam Szalai has a pop at goal from over 35 yards out and manages to force a save from Neuer. The Hungary captain has led his team by example.
72' Just 91 seconds separated Havertz's equaliser and Schafer's goal. What an eventful game this has been. France and Portugal are drawing 2-2 now, so this result would send Hungary through in third and Germany tumbling out of the competition.
70' Kimmich finds Gosens at the far post with a strong cross. Gulacsi clutches the header to his chest.
Ádám Szalai
Assist
Hungary
68' Adam Szalai has been the star of the show for Hungary. He now has a beautiful assist to go alongside his beautiful goal. Germany are stunned. They have to score again!
A. Schäfer
Goal
Hungary
68' GOAL! GERMANY 1-2 HUNGARY! Extraordinary! Hungary score right from the kick-off! Germany haven't switched back on yet and Adam Szalai finds Schafer with a ball over the top. Sane can't catch the midfielder and Schafer nips in front of Neuer to nod in!
T. Müller
S. Gnabry
Germany
67' Gnabry also makes way for Muller. Germany will want to go on and win this now.
T. Werner
K. Havertz
Germany
67' Havertz's goal is his last act of the game for Germany and what an important one it could be. Werner is his replacement.
M. Hummels
Assist
Germany
67' Hummels claims the assist for what could be a vital Germany goal. Gulacsi didn't cover himself in glory there.
K. Havertz
Goal
Germany
66' GOAL! GERMANY 1-1 HUNGARY! Germany breathe a sigh of relief! Kroos fires in a cross from the free-kick and Gulacsi misses his punch. Hummels has his header blocked and it loops up to Havertz who nods in from close range!
A. Fiola
Yellow Card
Hungary
66' Fiola catches Ginter with a high foot. A yellow card is the result. Hungary are starting to give away more fouls.
65' Botka hands Germany a corner which doesn't lead to very much. Hungary are putting their bodies on the line.
Ádám Szalai
Yellow Card
Hungary
64' Adam Szalai's booked for bringing down Gosens. This game is getting more tense by the minute.
62' Sallai hits the post! The striker goes straight for the top left corner with a vicious free-kick. It cracks against the woodwork and bounces out of play. It briefly looked like it had crept past Neuer.
L. Sané
Yellow Card
Germany
61' Sane gets a deserved yellow card for handling the ball as Fiola leaves him in the dust. Hungary have a free-kick from the left edge of the box.
60' Germany's corner sails over everyone. That won't worry Hungary at all.
59' Kleinheisler's inswinging free-kick is punched away by Neuer. Nego and Fiola both can't find the target from the edge of the box. Up the other end, Orban slides across the box to stop Havertz reaching the bouncing ball. Germany have a corner.
58' Adam Szalai buys a free-kick near Germany's corner flag as Ginter slides in. A second Hungary goal would be huge. With France currently beating Portugal 2-1, Hungary would currently finish second in Group F. Germany, meanwhile, would be third.
L. Goretzka
İ. Gündoğan
Germany
58' Germany make their first change. Goretzka replaces the quiet Gündogan.
56' It's another Germany free-kick. Again Hungary show great desire, blocking Gundogan's header. Rudiger's shot from the left of the box is blocked by Orban.
54' Germany get a free-kick down their right as Schafer fouls Sane. Kroos lifts it in towards Hummels and Botka shows great desire to win the header. Gnabry soon sends Kleinheisler to the turf.
52' Havertz strikes at Gulacsi on the turn from the edge of the box. The Hungary goalkeeper grabs the shot easily.
50' Germany are popping the ball around without much purpose. Hungary have got the centre of the pitch locked down.
48' Rudiger spots the forward run of Gosens but so does Hungary's defence. Kimmich is now playing more centrally for Germany with Sane playing what looks like right wing-back.
46' Germany start the half where they left off with Gnabry slamming a shot against Fiola. Hungary certainly won't change what they've been doing.
45' Hungary get the second half going. Low resists making substitutions for now.
Germany have conceded the first goal in each of their last four European Championship games. They'd only conceded first in four of their previous 19 such matches before this. Their defence is not what it once was. Luckily for them, their attack's still up to scratch, although Hungary have neutralised it so far. Surely Low is currently considering changes.
Germany have a huge half-time break ahead of them. As things stand they're crashing out of Euro 2020. Hungary have worked extremely hard, taking the lead through Adam Szalai's wonderful header. Since then, Hungary have defended fantastically, and Germany have had no answer to it.
45' + 2' HALF-TIME: GERMANY 0-1 HUNGARY
45' There'll be two minutes added onto the end of this first half. Hungary are playing very well as Nagy ends another German attack.
44' Sane's cross in the box is blocked, as is Havertz's shot. The ball rebounds to the Chelsea midfielder who drags a second effort wide.
43' Hungary temporarily go down to 10 men as Botka leaves the pitch to receive treatment. Their midfield does enough to stop Germany taking advantage before Botka eventually trots back in position.
41' Schafer rolls the ball wide to Nego who has Botka getting forward on the overlap. The masked Rudiger nips in and clears it away. Botka stays down as his ankle twists awkwardly under Rudiger's challenge.
39' Sallai jinks inside from the left and has a speculative shot which dips in front of Neuer. Neuer gets down to his knees to catch it.
38' Germany continue to probe while Hungary sit back and soak up pressure. Kroos loses his footing on the edge of Hungary's box and Nagy carries the ball clear. Schafer's shot from range plops comfortably wide.
36' The rain is really pelting down in Munich. It's only making this game feel more dramatic. Shouting and waving from under his red hood, Rossi looks like a fisherman caught at sea.
34' Fiola keeps the ball in play for Hungary down the left-hand side and flings a cross into Germany's box. Rudiger does enough to stop the attack.
33' Sallai finds himself one-on-one against Hummels but can't create a clear chance at goal as Hummels blocks his shot. Hungary look like a team that knows their game-plan.
31' Germany try to make progress down their right again but Schafer slides in to dispossess Kimmich. Tempers are starting to rise.
İ. Gündoğan
Yellow Card
Germany
30' Gundogan also finds his name in the book for scything down Kleinheisler.
E. Botka
Yellow Card
Hungary
28' Botka picks up the game's first yellow card for a poor challenge on Gundogan. He'll play no part in Hungary's round of 16 tie if his side manage to progress.
27' Kroos aims for Hummels at the far post again. This time the centre-back gets stuck under it and his header ends up too high to trouble Gulacsi.
26' Kimmich reacts with frustration as Fiola clips him again. The referee rushes across to defuse the situation and hand Germany a free-kick.
25' Kimmich whips in another promising cross but Orban is in the right place to head it away. The wing-back is finding plenty of space down Germany's right.
24' Sane wins the ball for Germany and finds Kimmich who lifts the ball towards the far post. It's over Havertz and Gosens and Sane maintains possession for the hosts.
22' Another great cross from Kimmich from the right is just about dealt with by Hungary. Germany are dominating possession but are finding Hungary tough nuts to crack so far.
21' Hummels hits the bar! The defender's header crashes against the corner of post and bar from Kimmich's pinpoint corner. Germany keep the pressure on and Ginter half-volleys a shot straight Gulacsi. We've got a game on our hands here!
19' Hungary will have expected to spend most of this game defending but now they've got something to hang on to. Havertz jinks down the right and forces a corner for Germany.
17' Havertz darts in behind and fizzes the ball across goal but there's no one there for Germany to tap it in! Gosens salvages it and lays off to Gnabry whose shot is charged down by Hungary's defenders.
15' Havertz's handball gives Hungary possession. Germany have failed to keep a clean sheet in all three of their group stage games at this tournament for the first time since Euro 2000. They're a talented but flawed side these days.
13' Germany try to respond to Hungary's goal straight away as Sane's caught offside from Gundogan's throughball. The hosts have replaced Hungary at the bottom of Group F, but no doubt that will change over the next hour or two.
R. Sallai
Assist
Hungary
11' Sallai's cross for the goal was a perfectly placed peach. He's been involved in four goals in his last five games for Hungary now. The Freiburg forward is a man in form.
Ádám Szalai
Goal
Hungary
11' GOAL! GERMANY 0-1 HUNGARY! What a header by Adam Szalai! Hungary's captain dives to power the ball past Neuer from Sallai's fantastic cross from the right. That's just what the Hungarians need!
10' Germany look at home on the ball in these early stages, but they've just lost possession to Hungary. The Hungarians build an attack patiently and...
8' Fiola catches Kimmich from behind down Germany's right flank. Kroos sends the free-kick in but it arrives to Rudiger too quickly for the defender to master it.
6' The corner's taken short to Schafer who's quickly closed down. Hummels makes an important touch to prevent Adam Szalai from reaching his namesake Attila Szalai's follow-up pass.
5' Adam Szalai tries to wriggle away from Rudiger to the right of the box and Rudiger makes the block. Hungary get the first corner of the game.
3' Kimmich latches onto Hummels' ball over the top and lashes at goal from a tight angle. Gulacsi shows a strong right hand to keep it out at the near post.
2' Germany start positively as Gnabry almost slips Sane in behind Hungary's back three. The pass is a touch too powerful and rolls out of play for a Hungary goal-kick.
1' Germany, playing in their black second colours, get things underway! Hungary will play wearing all-white.
The two teams are out on the pitch in a rainy Munich. Both teams' national anthems are politely observed by most, if not all, fans in the stadium.
Germany and Hungary's only previous encounters in a major tournament came in the 1954 World Cup, with Hungary winning 8-3 in the group stage and Germany 3-2 in the final. In more recent times, the Germans have defeated Hungary in their two previous meetings under Low, both of them friendlies. Marco Rossi's Hungary are a tricky team to beat though.
There's just the one change to Germany from their win over Portugal. Muller is benched so Sane starts on the left. Neuer starts his 14th game at the Euros for Germany, matching Philipp Lahm's record. Hungary are unchanged from their 1-1 draw with France.

Hungary may be bottom of Group F as things stand but a well-earned draw with world champions France in their last match will give them belief that they can repeat their run to Euro 2016's round of 16. Hungary haven't won their last group game of a major tournament since the 1966 World Cup. They'll need to do so now though to progress.
Germany's rip-roaring 4-2 win over Portugal last time out has given them a very good chance of escaping Euro 2020's group of death. Joachim Low's men now host Hungary, knowing they've never crashed out in the group stage of consecutive major tournaments.
