With Masoud Juma and Meddie Kagere in the Most Valuable Player list only a handful of fans as well as stake holders gave Zoo Kericho's Michael Madoya a chance to win it.
Kariobangi Sharks man Juma had scored 17 goals in 24 matches to win the Golden Boot; while Meddie Kagere had put up an exemplary performance to help his side Gor Mahia win the league title.
However, it was Madoya, who was rewarded for his perfect display in the Zoo Kericho's jersey winning four awards and in the process Sh1.7million.
The attacking and creative midfielder is still over the moon after winning the prestigious award. “I did not expect to win four awards, as a matter of fact only the midfielder of the year and new player of the year awards were in my head. And I was not sure whether I will win them because the competition was stiff.
“But at the end of the day I had won four! I did not believe that the MVP award was mine, it was a dream come true and it was like walking in the moon.
“The awards are a motivation to me, I want to work harder this season and help my team perform even better,” Madoya told Goal.
Kenneth Muguna was the 2017 MVP winner while playing for Western Stima.
