Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa is hopeful they still have a lot to play for despite a horrible Premier Soccer League season. They are just three points above the relegation zone.
The Zimbabwean giants lost 1-0 to Ngezi Platinum Stars on Sunday, with Klevin Bulaji returning to the Rufaro Stadium to haunt his former employers with a goal that condemned Dynamos to a third straight winless game.
Another former Dynamos player Godknows Murwira was involved in the build-up to the goal while Tichaona Mabvura, an ex-DeMbare midfielder, also featured for Ngezi.
In a dramatic season that has witnessed Mutasa being fired and then rehired, Dynamos’ fortunes continue to dwindle.
The coach is not throwing in the towel as yet, despite the league title being out of their reach.
“There are still 14 games to play for and we have just played three in the second half of the season,” Mutasa said.
“Our objective is to win all of those matches because we set ourselves a target to be the best team in the league in the second half of the season.
“We still have hopes that we can achieve our targets once we start scoring goals because our main problem has been the lack of goals.”
The 1998 Caf Champions League finalists face another stern test in their next game when they visit another traditional giant, Highlanders.
Ngezi’s win saw them closing the gap to two points on leaders and fellow miners FC Platinum who were held 0-0 by Caps United at home on Saturday.
