Willard Katsande: Evans Rusike would be the perfect fit for Kaizer Chiefs

Chiefs currently have Bernard Parker and Gustavo Paez as their only experienced strikers this term, and Katsande would like to see Rusike at the club

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande believes Evans Rusike is one player that would fit in at Naturena and help solve the club’s goalscoring problems.

Amakhosi football manager Bobby Motaung recently confirmed that they will not rest until they find a top striker who will score goals for them on a regular basis.

While Chiefs were linked with Rusike before, his current employers Maritzburg United, maintained that he was not for sale, and they subsequently extended his contract by a further two years.

In an interview with Soca263, Katsande hinted that he would back the club’s pursuit of his countryman should he become available.

“Evans Rusike is the perfect fit [for Chiefs],” Katsande said.

Katsande, who is set to make his 200th appearance for the Glamour Boys when they visit Cape Town City next week, admitted that he is excited at the prospect of becoming a legend at the club.

“It's a good feeling to reach this milestone at a club like Chiefs. I'm writing my own history in their history books. When I'm done with soccer, I will be remembered here as a legend,” he said.

Having worked with various coaches since arriving at Chiefs six seasons ago, Katsande said it wouldn’t be fair to single a coach who had the biggest impact on his football career because they all contributed differently towards making him a better player.

“Everyone contributed in a different way towards my career. It's unfair to single out one,” added Katsande.
