Godfrey Villa Orachaman scored the all important goal in the 29th minute to hand the brewers’ their second straight defeat in the league and dent their hopes of retaining the title. The brewers had lost their last league match to Bandari by a similar margin and pressure is now piling on Ugandan coach George ‘Best’ Nsimbe going into 17 rounds of matches.
The Ugandan coach is however, confident that he will steady the ship before things get out of hand. “We have lost a match we did not deserve to lose. I can’t believe that we don’t have points from this fixture. We must accept that we have lost and concentrate on our next match.”
Tusker started the match a charged side, winning first corner in the 17th, but the resultant cross from Boniface Muchiri did not bore fruits. Tusker were then punished for the missed chance when Villa Orachaman put the power men ahead at the run of play.
Defender, David Mwangi came close to score for the champions with his 34th-minute header, but the effort missed the target with Western Stima holding on to the slim lead heading into the break. Tusker made two quick changes early in the second half, Allan Wanga coming in for Michael Khamati while Jackson Macharia was pulled out for Clifford Alwanga in the 50th minute.
Despite the changes, Stima continued to pile pressure on the title holders, forcing Duncan Ochieng’ to make double saves in the 53rd and 83rd minutes and deny the home team chance to double the lead until the final whistle.
