The Sai Masu Gida right back has challenged his teammates to go for the broke against the Promise Keepers in their weekend cracker in Uyo

Kano Pillars ’ Ifeanyi Nweke has charged his teammates to brace up to the challenge at hand as they face Akwa United at the Nest of Champions Stadium, Uyo on Sunday in a top-flight fixture.

Sai Masu Gida bounced back from their 2-1 away loss to Heartland with another 2-1 home win over El Kanemi Warriors last weekend and they face one of the league contenders, Akwa United whom already held them to a 1-1 draw in Kano when the first leg was played in January this year.

But Nweke asserted that with good preparations and positive mindset it won’t be impossible for Kano Pillars to leave Uyo with at least a point that will help brighten their chances of finishing the season among the top three in Group B.

“This is a league game we must be serious about because we only have a few matches more to the end of the season and it is important we grab points at every place that we go to,” Nweke told GOAL.

“The game with El Kanemi Warriors which we won has given us a sample of how the remaining league matches will look like and we must brace up to the challenge to show that we are serious our quest to play in the Super Six at the end of the regular season. We have been working so hard even though we didn’t start the season the way we ought to.

“We have managed to pick four points in our away games but we can still do more. We need to put all our energies in the game with Akwa United because they were the one that denied us access from having 100 percent result at home. We need to pay them back so that we will continue to stay within touching distance of the top three.”

Kano Pillars are in the fourth position in the NPFL Group B with 23 points from 14 games.
