Henrikh Mkhitaryan says Manchester United are “not looking for records” in their efforts to secure a top-four finish in the Premier League.
The Red Devils entered a Sunday showdown with Liverpool at Old Trafford on the back of a nine-match winning run.

Six of those successes had come in English top-flight competition, helping to force them back into contention for Champions League qualification.
United had already seen Chelsea embark on a lengthy sequence of victories this season, with Antonio Conte’s side prevailing in 13 successive Premier League fixtures to move to the summit.

Mkhitaryan insists Jose Mourinho’s side were never focused on doing something similar, with one game taken at a time as they edge their way towards long-term goals.
“We have to win, try to win the next game,” he told MUTV.
“We are not looking for records, we are doing our best to be in the top four and to do that you have to win games.
“Do not think about records because one day they will break. We are just trying to do our job by winning every game.”
United were in danger of seeing their recent productive run ended by defeat at the hands of Liverpool, with a Zlatan Ibrahimovic header rescuing them a point six minutes from time in a 1-1 draw.

Mourinho’s men displayed commendable battling qualities as they fought their way back into the game, while the introduction of experienced internationals off the bench once again helped to highlight the strength in depth within their ranks.
“Not only Marouane [Fellaini] but also Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata put freshness in the team,” Mkhitaryan explained.

“They helped us a lot up front and we are happy that they could change something in our game. We are happy to have them coming on.”
United will be looking to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they travel to Stoke City, with a four-point gap currently separating them from Arsenal in fourth.
