The Ghanaian striker’s second-half effort was crucial in helping Thierry Laurey's team secure an away win in Wednesday's league outing

Majeed Waris scored his first goal for Strasbourg in their 1-0 win over Toulouse in a Ligue 1 encounter on Tuesday night.

Just two minutes after coming off the bench in the 73rd minute, the 28-year-old scored the only goal of the match at Stadium de Toulouse.

It was Waris' first goal for Strasbourg since he returned to France on loan from Porto in January. Shortly after the match the striker took to Twitter to express his happiness: "Let’s smile and dance together. Happy for the three points and my first goal. More to come Insha Allah. Thanks to the support and all the people that kept believing in me.'

Meanwhile, South Africa's Lebo Mothiba was an unused substitute as Wednesday's victory moved Strasbourg up to ninth in the Ligue 1 table with 33 points after 23 matches.

They host Reims for their next top-flight outing on February 9.
