The defender is brimming with confidence that the Porcupine Warriors could end their trophy drought this season

Asante Kotoko defender Wahab Adams believes they will end their long run without a title this season in the Ghana Premier League.

The Porcupine Warriors last won the topflight in the 2013-14 campaign, finishing outside the top four last season under former coach Steve Polack, who was the fourth manager to come on board during that campaign.

"Things haven't worked for us in recent times. Although, I joined few months ago, we couldn't qualify to the next stage of the Caf Confederation Cup and that made matters worse," Wahab told Nhyira FM.

"However, I'm optimistic about winning the league trophy this season and playing in the Caf Champions League next season. All the players are poised for action and we'll make a statement of fact starting with our first game against Wafa on Sunday.

"The coach wants to make a mark just like the players, so the mood in camp tells our intentions. We don't want to continue disappointing everyone around the club and that will definitely be shown on Sunday despite the fact that we've lost in our last two visits," he added.

Goal understands that the game between Wafa and Kotoko have been moved from Sogakope to Cape Coast Sports Stadium, since television right holders StarTimes want to broadcast it alongside Inter Allies against Bechem United.
